Kindled By Nina: A Four-Women Requiem Multimedia Invocation of Black Womanhood

Healing Through Narrative Performance

A Multimedia Stage Experience by Dr. Karen Moore

Inspired by Nina Simone’s legendary voice and the haunting beauty of her song Four Women, Kindled by Nina is more than a performance—it’s a poetic invocation, a requiem, and a fire lit deep in the bones of Black womanhood.

Blending live spoken word, cinematic film, and ancestral memory, Kindled by Nina brings to life four archetypal women who carry both burden and brilliance: the caretaker, the rebel, the wounded, the divine. Through poetry, sound, and story, the stage becomes a sanctuary of reckoning, resistance, and rebirth.

What to Expect:

  • Live Poetry Performance by Dr. Karen Moore
  • Film Integration: Featuring the short poetic film Blues Born of Fire
  • Immersive Soundscapes & Visuals rooted in Black cultural expression
  • A Journey through the Archetypes: inspired by Nina Simone’s Four Women
  • Runtime: Approximately 45 minutes

Why It Matters:

Kindled by Nina is a call to remember and a call to rise. It speaks directly to the legacy of Black women who have been misnamed, misunderstood, and marginalized. This production offers space to reflect, weep, breathe, and imagine who we are beyond the labels.

It is for the dreamers.
The healers.
The daughters of survival.
And the artists who keep on singing.
